Artist Statement

Growing up in the Midwest, I was surrounded by hardly any peers interested in film. Without access to cameras, lights, or actors, I taught myself to work with a range of editing and 3D software. I also wrote stories and worlds that were often sci-fi- and fantasy-themed, as I grew up loving The Lord of the Rings trilogy and Star Wars.

Because of these solo projects, my stories often focus on characters overcoming a mental obstacle, rather than a physical one. By telling stories with these themes, I hope to help people push through periods of isolation and moments of anxiety.

As a director, I also believe that the work environment for actors and crew on set significantly impacts the overall quality of the film. Because of this, I strive to set a tone for having a good time on set while being ready to work.

So far, I've directed and written three short films. My latest short film, Solace, was the most ambitious film I've directed so far. Of all my works, this has had the darkest tone; however, like the films that inspire me, I always want to end on an optimistic note.

This film was also amazing to work on, as I got to use a decent amount of practical effects alongside VFX. It allowed me to continue learning about the interests I had growing up, and I want to continue learning about them going forward.

Although directing and editing are my passions, I have a strong love for the entire filmmaking process, regardless of the role. I'm committed to further developing my craft and meeting filmmakers to collaborate with!

My projects can be found and watched through Work.
